"Having personally photographed, hunted, recorded and researched all known 150 existing, (or recently defunct) covered bridges in Ohio, that I have found in almost each county, I now own The Definitive Collection of Covered Bridges in Ohio. I plan to publish a book soon. To see more photography about covered bridges and other topics, visit my website"

Thanks for the following Guestbook entry:
"It was great to find this site. I was looking for some information on the bridge that bears my Family's name. My Father and Aunt told me stories about this bridge and how it played a part in there lives. I was also saddened when the flood took it away. Also, George Miller was my uncle."

Brown Covered Bridge

The 129 foot Brown Covered Bridge spans White Oak Creek, the principle river draining central Brown County. In the immediate area, the average width of the creek's bed is 130 to 150 feet.

This bridge was built in 1878 with a Howe truss. The floor has been blacktopped and is open to vehicular traffic.

The covered bridge experienced a significant restoration in 1960 by the Brown County Highway Department. The bridge is a single span resting on cut stone abutments. The exterior has a white tin roof and naturally weathered siding that is in good repair.

Summer foliage makes it impossible to see the complete exterior of this bridge. I photographed the Brown Covered Bridge on a sunny day in late January-early February.

Directions: Scott Township. From New Hope, northeast on New Hope White Oak
Road, two miles.
